At a loss, trying to change my wordpress blog with as little effort as possible

I have the long blog name davidmitchelljacobsschwartz.wordpress.com. I’d like to shorten that to dmjs.wordpress.com and have all my content in the same place. I think I clicked on something and saved it to dmjs.wordpress.com, but only have a default page about parenting. Please guide me. I need to know first if my change took place. I also need to know how to edit each existing link if possible or to upload all the content back where it was under dmjs.wordpress.com. If all else fails, I need to delete the blog and start over. In that case, I need to know how to register the new blog name. If it makes a difference, I just downloaded WordPress for Mac. 10.9+.
