attached files link out to carousel

  Hi, I’ve tried to publish a page with a number of photos and keep encountering the same problem.

  When selecting photos to add to my page, I choose to link to ‘attached page.’ However, when I visit that page after publishing, I click on any single photo, and a carousel opens with a black background. If I choose to preview the page, and then click on an image, it shows my choice of an attaced page with a single image and its own URL. Its the latter that I hope to achieve. Can anyone help?

  Hello there, The image carousel is the default action for opening Gallery photos. If you don’t want your Gallery photos to open in the Image Carousel, you’ll need to change a setting in your WP Admin Dashboard at
  https://aciddropstudios.wordpress.com//wp-admin/options-media.php and uncheck the box next to Image Gallery Carousel. Click the save changes button.

  This is a global setting for all galleries on your site and once deactivated will let you display images on Attachment pages. What information appears on that attachment page depends on your theme.

  Be aware that besides displaying your images in the pop-up overlay, the Gallery Image Carousel allows you to rearrange your images after you’ve uploaded them. Once you’ve disabled that setting, you’ll need to upload your images in the order in which you wish them to appear.

  Thank you both for your help. It seems my problem is that my dashboard is different than the one referred to in your 2nd link, Timethief. I wouldn’t have known that without Justjennifer’s detailed instructions which led me to this other dashboard which includes more options under the setting category.

  However, I have experienced success with the solution.

  I do have another question being a child in this great universe. Can I change the size of the photo on the attached page. Its displaying kind of small…

  I got it!!! After trying a few things and reading a few help files to no avail, fiddling around in what to me is my “new” dashboard and its expanded features in settings, I got it!!!
