Attaching blogs from the top menu bar

  I’m trying to basically make the top menu bar my categories bar. I’ve figured out how to put the different categories up there and give them sub categories but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to actually post a blog to that category. For example I have Home/Sustainability (with a drop down of Green Building) and then Animals. If I wanted to post an article under Green Building how would I do so, or on any of them for that matter? Any help is much appreciated
