Attaching Picture to a Post

When I click the ‘Media’ tab on the control panel I get a correct list of media in my gallery. I find the picture I want, select ‘Attach’ and get an error message ‘An error has occurred. Please reload the page and try again.’ This happens no matter what picture I select.
Any help fixing this, or advise as to what other procedure I could use, would be greatly appreciated.

When I click the ‘Media’ tab on the control panel I get a correct list of media in my gallery. I find the picture I want, select ‘Attach’ and get an error message ‘An error has occurred.
I’ve been unable to replicate the sequence of events you describe. If, via Add Media, I click on an image in the media library, there never appears an “Attach” option. Instead I find options such as “Insert” or “Cancel” in the older My Sites editor and the new Block Editor, or “Insert into page” in the WP-Admin editor.
Can you provide a screenshot of what you’re seeing, that includes the “Attach” option? See the Making a Screenshot support page, and its Sharing your screenshot section, if necessary.
