Attachment Page – How do I disable click to image URL

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi
I’m fairly new to wordpress but have built a site robtibbles.com using the freshly theme.
I’m a photographer and have put together a few basic gallerys as well as using individual images in posts.

I like that when you click on a thumbnail or med sized photo it can open in an attachment page with description.
I don’t like that the photo on attachment page can be clicked on again and viewed as full size image in browser
    (going to the image URL).

Is it possible to stop/disable this “3rd” click as i don’t want my images seen in this manner.
    thanks

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Unfortunately it isn’t possible. The attachment page is an automatically generated temporary page over which you have no control. It’s a rather badly thought feature: you cannot set any options for it, or access it to edit it, but readers can leave comments!

I think I may have found a way! It’s not very elegant but I’ve managed to make it work a couple of times….

    1) Upload image from your computer and insert into post

    2) Then insert the SAME image into your post, but this time when the ‘add media files from your computer’ pop up appears, click on the ‘media library’ from the top right part of the box. This will then list all the images you have uploaded to your site – and should include the one from step 1.

    3) Click ‘show’ next to the picture you want. This brings up ‘add an image’ box with an empty URL box. Use this.

    4) Now delete the first image from the post.

    5) This should leave an image on your post that viewers cannot click any further on.

    Unfortunately I don’t know how/if that works with thumbnails….have a go?

    Good luck,

@silverfootprint: In order to have a non-clickable image in your post, you simply click “None” instead of “File URL” before inserting it. And you only have to do this once: the uploader will then remember your preference.

But robtibbles is talking about images inserted with the “gallery” feature, not independent ones.
