Attachment pages redirect

  Hi everyone,

  I’m currently trying to optimise everything about my blog for SEO purposes. Within the potential improvements, I found out that every picture placed in galleries on my posts create another webpage containing the picture. The result as I’m adding quite a lot of picture: I have today more than 1500 pages instead of 80 pages.

  My questions:
  – As a blog/e magazine, is true this number of pages can damage your ranking?
  – I found by searching google that wp.org users can redirect what is calle “attachment pages”, can we do it on wp.com?
  – If I do that will it solve the SEO issue?
  – Any other idea?
