Attack on your domain name
-
I received the following emails:
We are a Network Service Company which is the domain name registration center in Shanghai, China. On May 21, 2015, we received an application from Huahong Holdings Ltd requested “bestinpackaging” as their internet keyword and China (CN) domain names. But after checking it, we find this name conflict with your company name or trademark. In order to deal with this matter better, it’s necessary to send email to you and confirm whether this company is your distributor or business partner in China?
Kind regards
Jeff Liu

I object against the use of my domain name. Now I receive the following:
We will register the “bestinpackaging” as internet keyword and China domain names .cn, .com.cn, .net.cn, .org.cn and have submitted our application. We are waiting for Mr. Jeff Liu’s approval and think these CN domains and internet keyword are very important for our business. Even though Mr. Jeff Liu advises us to change another name, we will persist in this name.
Best regards
Gareth QiaoIs there anybody who can tell me how I can fight this.
Thanks in advance

It’s an extortion scam, they want you to buy some overpriced China domains, your base name bestinpackaging.com. is safe as long as you keep renewing it
We have seen several other folks with the same concerns as you have
I have flagged this for staff attention to see if they have any suggestions

Do a search on the internet for the first phrase “We are a Network Service Company which is the domain name registration center in Shanghai, China” and you will find that this is most likely a scam.

Morning Morning @justjennifer
I got yet another $75.- registration scam to register my domain name with Google (was done several years ago by the way) –
We have some extra housing in Gitmo – knee cap the folks and send them to Gitmo is my take

PS – thanks for the link above – sometimes I send the scams on to my ISP for their amusement – new scam all the time – got a ton of emails last year about a domain name they wanted to sell me – was my name with an “s” added to it – talk about hair on fire emails

Thanks for the info. I visited various websites (there are hundreds of them) discussing this scam. Glad that it is a scam. Thanks again.
