Attempt to change to SSL caused weird redirect

I basically ran into the exact same problem as this guy:

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/broke-my-website-after-changing-http-to-https-on-settings/

But my site is actually hosted via WordPress itself (not some other company). In short, I changed the URL of my site from “http” to “https”, and when I try to login, it sends me to the login page of someone else’s WP site. Any thoughts on how I can revert the change without being able to login to the site directly?

    Hi there,

You can’t change that setting on WordPress.com and we also redirect all HTTP traffic to HTTPS automatically.

Please let me know your site’s address so I can have a look and point you in the right direction of getting support.

    The website is:

    http://www.cbcchatfield.com

I have tried the solution from this answer:
    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/broke-my-website-after-changing-http-to-https-on-settings/

and had no luck with it.

Update to all future viewers: I was able to resolve the issue with this link:

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL

    Editing the functions.php file. Thanks!

Thanks for letting us know you figured it out.

Note that you found the answer on WordPress.org. That is something completely different from WordPress.com – your site is not hosted on our servers but using the open source version of WordPress developed by the community over on WordPress.org. So you can do stuff (and break your site in ways ;) ) not possible on WordPress.com, but it also means we can’t help you with your site here in this forum.

In future, you can get help with your version of WordPress at https://wordpress.org/support/
