attempted to update theme and site crashed

    I attempted to update my theme, saw no ‘edit’ menu, clicked the ‘activate’ button, and got this message: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /data/17/2/4/152/2982152/user/3308944/htdocs/wordpress1/wp-content/themes/xylus/functions.php on line 231

    My site shaneriza.com/wordpress1/ is now down. How do I simply revert to old? How do I get to my Dashboard on the Admin page? I am on the page with ‘My Site’ and ‘Reader’ in the upper left.

    Hey there, you’ve posted your question in the support forums for sites hosted by WordPress.com, but your above site @shaneriza.com appears to be using the standalone WP software and is hosted on Defense.Net

    Standalone WP and WordPressdotcom are different entities; more information about the differences can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
