Attempting to add html code for ad to Nook theme and it’s not previewing

Hello,
I’m attempting to add the html code for an affiliate marketing ad to my Nook theme but it’s not previewing. Do I need to upgrade my WP account to get this to show or do I need to do something else? The tags being used are the one’s that it can display (it’s just an a and img tag).

You can’t put ads on a free wordpress.com site. This is a violation of our TOS and results in the suspension of that site.
The code you can use on the wordpress.com platform is very limited – https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/custom-html-block/#supported-code

I thought this might be the case. I will have to upgrade my site then and do it once I’ve done this. I’ll also give the TOS a read as well.
