Attempting to compare

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,
    I am making an attempt to compare the price/usability of a wordpress template and other sites. For some reason I cannot actually see the way the site will function and look or browse templates before being prompted to link a domain and/or make a purchase. This is very confusing and frustrating because I feel I should be able to make my decision based on how well I like using a product before having to pay for it.

    I am seeking a list of templats that I can use for the ‘Personal’ plan and to interact with them prior to my commitment. I do not want to go through the trouble of linking my domain before I browse and consider my options.

    Is this possible?

    Thank you,
    -Mia.

    Hi Mia,

    As you can see in the “Compare our plans” section of the WordPress.com Plans page, the personal plan only includes Free themes.

    The WordPress.com Themes Showcase include tabs at the top of the themes list that allow you to display All themes listed, or only the Free themes or the Premium themes. Example: Free themes: https://wordpress.com/themes/free.

    All features included in a Free theme should be available in preview. Premium themes must be purchased in order to use, but some of the features included may be previewed.

    I’ll call for staff attention to see if they might have any suggestions for you. Staff will respond here.

  • Hi Mia,

    @musicdoc1
    ’s answer is very thorough. You can create a free site using a .wordpress.com address and then preview any theme you like.

    If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
