Attempting to determine use of site

Hi there, I’m new to WordPress and tried the .com and .org versions. I see there’s a particular site URL I’m keen as mustard to use. It’s been taken and the user has never posed and it looks abandoned. There are no options to contact the user.
It was registered in 2008 and has no posts, no information, no contact details, as if the general purpose is to simply not use it or to sit on the site so nobody else can use it. I see from numerous WordPress forums that the words ‘tough luck’ apply to many in this situation.
I would very much like it if WordPress will consider looking at lymedisease.wordpress.com. I would like to raise awareness about Lyme disease with this URL and it will be very beneficial – eg, easy to remember and highly appropriate for my intended audience.
If not, I understand, and shall continue experimenting with WordPress. Any appreciation of my enquiry will be appreciated. And I’ll keep my fingers crossed until I hear back.

Hello, have you considered using a custom domain? I see that “lymedisease.website” is available for $11.99 at name.com.
