Attempts to add custom backgrounds with Edin and Goran themes activated failed

    Was considering switching to one of these themes in order to take advantage of the grid page template as a front page. However, attempts to add a custom background with each theme (Edin and Goran) failed. In each case (on separate test websites) a background image was uploaded at Appearance > Background, and saved with the desired settings. Yet the assigned background was not visible on any page or post in either case.

    For both Goran and Edin the background will appear outside of the content area on the sides. If you look at the Goran demo (https://gorandemo.wordpress.com/) it is the gray area to the right and left if you expand your browser window wider than about 1230 pixels. You would need a screen resolution that supports at least that width to even see it.
