  Hello. I’ve been mass e-mailing scores of friends and/or facebook each time I write a piece. Is there a way for a ‘fan’ to automatically be informed when I publish a new post?

  Yes, WordPress does have a publicize feature that lets your social media followers know you have a new post on your blog.

  Hi there, in addition to what @ryrhino00 has already mentioned about publicizing to Facebook, you can invite those friends you email to follow your site as a Follower. https://wordpress.com/support/user-roles/#follower

  That way, after they confirm their email subscription, your posts will automatically be sent to them each time you publish. If your WordPress.com site is Publicly visible, they won’t need to sign up for a WordPress.com account to follow by email.

  Alternatively, you can add a Follow site widget so they can sign up themselves. https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/follow-blog-widget/

  If this is a new site, have a look at your site because many of the newer themes have this widget already added.
