Audio block YourListen
-
On the free plan, it instructions state that audio must be hosted off-site such as SoundCloud. When one adds the SoundCloud pplayer it takes up an enormous amount of page space. So I tried using WP.com’s simple clean looking audio player with a file hosted on YourListen instead of SoundCloud. In the page draft/edit view, the player looks.shows up just like in the instructions. But when I post my page, then the player changes from a black rectangle to light gray with rounded edges, and the player does not work. Any ideas?

Hi there!
Could you please share a link to the page/post where this happens? We’ll have a look and advise.

Based on your description I’m not sure that we are seeing the same thing. Could you please take a screen shot of how you see the files on that page? Add it here with a third party link from https://snipboard.io/ or similar program. Thanks.

I don’t care about the change in appearance of the Audio Block after publishing, just guessing that perhaps it has something to do with the block not playing when a visitor clicks on it. Maybe it’s a issue with the YourListen site instead?

Ah, that’s Chrome’s own built-in audio player taking over.
Here’s how it looks in Firefox: https://d.pr/i/8d4jbr
With that said, it’s also not playing in Firefox.
The problem is because you inserted a URL
http://yourlisten.com/cc511/fletcher-nun-danketand not an actual audio file.YourListen does not appear to have a way to provide just an audio file’s URL, so the best you can do in this case is to just link to them as a normal link.
