audio clips quit working

The first 3 of the 4 audio clips in this post no longer work. The 4th one still does. They all worked before. How do I fix them? http://craigbuhler.com/2014/09/19/kenny-barrons-voyage/

OK, I tried to figure out what was the difference between the 1 audio clip that DID work and the 3 that did NOT. All I could see was that the 3 broken links were WAV and the one that did work was an MP3. So I converted the 3 WAV files to MP3 files (using ITunes), and now they appear to be working.
But that does not explain why the WAV files were working fine BEFORE, and now they will not. Also, if WordPress is not going to support WAV files, why did you allow them to be uploaded?

Does this mean I need to search thru my entire web site and replace ALL of the WAV files with mp3 files?
Also, I have been meaning to ask you whether you have a utility which will identify all broken links in a web site? There is a vendor which advertises such a service, but they may not be trustworthy.

    Hi Craig,

Our media library and audio player do support .wav audio files, however some browsers, primarily Internet Explorer, do not support the HTML5 code used to play .wav files:

    Working With Audio

In those instances, a direct download link should become available instead an audio player. Did you see that occur with your .wav files? If not, could you describe what did occur/display as an error?

Can you send me a link to a post where you still have .wav files embedded?

Does this mean I need to search thru my entire web site and replace ALL of the WAV files with mp3 files?

That support link shows a chart of how different browsers are compatible with different audio files. No file is perfect for all browsers, so I’d recommend continuing to use whatever file type is most convenient for you while creating your content. Regardless of how the browser treats the audio player, the file is available for download so your readers can use one of their computer’s audio players if it’s not functional on the post directly.

We do not have any tools like this. If you do purchase a tool of this nature with an outside vendor, note that you should never provide it your username or password — all your published links are available by viewing the source code on each page, so no administrative access would be necessary.

Thank you for your prompt and thorough response.
Now that you mention it, I had migrated from Internet Explorer to Firefox (on Windows 7 pro). The flash player on my Firefox recently disappeared, forcing me back to IE. That could be the problem.
A player came up (see attached screen shot), but it was vacant and would not play.
Meanwhile, a friend reminded me that mp3 files load and play much faster, if my customer is still on dial up, so that is most likely preferable, if portable to various platforms.
Thank you for the HELP link, which I just read. I do have an acct with SoundCloud, if that is a preferable player.

    Hi Craig,

    The SoundCloud player is popular:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/soundcloud-audio-player/

It does require a few steps and a cut-and-paste, but once you’re used to embedding them, it’s similar to adding audio players from your media library.

You can also mix-and-match different players within a post if you wanted to host the smaller mp3s in your media library, and full-songs on your SoundCloud for example.

Let me know if you hit further snags. :)

    Best,

    -Alex G.
