Audio File issues

I am going crazy trying to correctly upload/link to an audio file such that the player shows in the post. I have read all of the instructions and previous post regarding audio that I can find, and I’m still not finding any joy. The post I’m having trouble with is http://tedcook.wordpress.com/2009/04/20/my-sweet-girl/.
I have attempted to edit the link several different ways, via the add audio and add media buttons, and using the link tab under both the visual and html editor. The link I am trying to insert is [audio http://tedcook.wordpress.com/files/2009/04/my-sweet-girl.mp3%5D After saving it, it gets truncated to //tedcook.wordpress.com/files/2009/04/my-sweet-girl.mp3. Many attempts led to a 404 error when clicking on the link, currently it opens an external player.
What am I doing wrong? I am new to this, but I can generally follow instructions. What has worked for others doesn’t seem to be working for me. Please advise.

Thank you. It’s fixed, and I moved it so that the audio player comes after the song title. I’d like to know what you did, so that I don’t run into this problem again. It looks like you simply entered the code as text, instead of inserting it into a link. Is that how you fixed it?
Next, how do I set this up so that people can download the song, rather than simply play it? Will a link to the file allow them to do this, or will it just open into an external player?
