audio files
-
hello. i’ve been using the site for a fairly long time and have always embedded audio players with the code [audio link to audio file] and it has always worked. in the past few weeks, all of my posts have stopped functioning using that format and just come up with the text instead of the audio player. did something change recently? why would that code suddenly stop working?

So, it looks like something that is up (or has changed) on podbean’s end of things.
The URL you use for the MP3 in that post is:
[audio src="http://wfodicks.podbean.com/mf/play/vbidr3/wfod11716l.mp3" /]
But if you enter that into a browser bar, it changes to:
[audio src="http://s37.podbean.com/pb/a4bef03b5ce9006085bb8c27e49de7ae/56a28ef0/data1/fs49/219347/uploads/wfod11716l.mp3" /]
If you then use that second URL to embed on WordPress.com, the embed works correctly. See here:
https://monkeybutler.wordpress.com/2016/01/22/audio-embed-test/
So I would encourage you to talk to podbean and see why they are switching URLs like that.

After a lengthy wait, this is the reply I got….
Hi, Mike,
This is the correct URL. http://wfodicks.podbean.com/mf/play/vbidr3/wfod11716l.mp3
Because all media files are stored in our cloud file server system, the file system will automatically pick a server to serve the file in run time. So each time the file URL will change .
Most players can follow 302 redirect and be able to play the file without any problem.

Is there a way to work around the redirect? Maybe an alternate player that would work with that problem?

I think I may have tracked down the source of the issue on our end.
Let me see if I can get it fixed.
-
So, these should all be fixed. Turns out that the issue is on our side somewhere.
Can I ask you which editor do you use most frequently? The newer one or the classic “dashboard” editor? do you use the “copy a post” functionality? Or do you cut and paste the same thing into your posts every time?
-
That’s awesome! Thanks.
I’m not really sure which editor I use more frequently. Usually just whatever pops up. I know I’ve used both at one time or another.
I do not copy posts. I don’t cut and paste anything either except the link from podbean.

The issue seems to be that the space between “[audio” and the URL is getting rendered as a &npsb in the HTML instead of turning into the proper code. We’re trying to track down what is happeneing. But if you see it again, try editing the post, delete and replace that space, and then save.
