Audio files buffering, never playing

I have uploaded many mp3’s to my page. They will work right after the initial post but when i try to access them a few hours later or on another computer, they will not play. It’s as if they are “expiring.” I am entering the code using HTML instead of Visual. What am i doing wrong? Please help. Thank you.

Try the file name without spaces.
Also, might also be worth checking with the hosting service where you are uploading the file to see what their terms are.

i am having the same problem….it just says buffering on my audio and never plays the songs

You’ve supplied the code. For your issue, I’m thinking there’s a missing ] at the end of that parenthesis and you need to make sure that the link in your blog is not clickable (ie blue and all like that one is). Put the cursor on it, click the Unlink icon, and update the post.

raincoaster i think it was maybe an issue with my hosting service as i just bought the space saver package for wordpress.com and can now upload mp3s. I was using the shortcode [audio URL] but it wasnt recognising my hosting service
Is it possible that WP.com wouldn’t recognise outside URL just to make you upgrade on the space saver??

People link to outside audio hosting every day without problem. Some services are better than others. What were you using?

So as soon as you purchase Space saver you can immediately upload your own MP3’s and play them with no problem? How much is it?

My audio hosts vary. Im just wondering if it’s some technical issue that can be resolved with a little HTML mapping or if it’s a wordpress/copyright issue?

It’s not the latter. It definitely depends on where you host the images. Fileden allows hotlinking, but many places don’t.

@tisdail, did you try renaming the audio file to eliminate the spaces from the file name as I suggested above? Also, according to this Support doc, the file should be encoded at 44.1khz http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/#additional-info

When inserting the file into the post I get 3 options for link URL : none (the one I would like) , file or post. When I chose ‘none’, the display in the post is good (audio player) but it does not play (stays in buffering mode). I set it on ‘file’ currently because it is the only to get it work but I would like to change as it is really bad looking when clicking on the link. Thank you
