Audio Not Playing In Firefox Only

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a strange problem that I wanted to report. I have audio files imbedded in my website. They play fine on my computer and on mobile on my website. If I’m in Chrome. When I go to Firefox, I can’t hear 2 out of the 3 audio files that I have imbedded on the website. They are all fine in SoundCloud in Firefox. But it’s specifically when playing from my website in Firefox that they can’t be heard. Do you have any idea what this could be? I currently worked around it and uploaded mp3 versions of the audio files that weren’t working before because I need those files to be heard. But if you want me to send you the 3 files so you can compare the ones that work to the ones that don’t, let me know.

    Hi,

It seems like you might be facing difficulties with a self-hosted WordPress.org website, and not with a WordPress.com-hosted one. WordPress.org is a free site-engine software, while WordPress.com is a web hosting company. You can find more information about the differences between WordPress.org and WordPress.com here: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

You can find further support by posting to the WordPress.org support channel, available from here: wordpress.org/support/forums/

I’m not sure about that. I created a site on wordpress through BlueHost. So I’m signed into wordpress.com. I don’t have an account with wordpress.org. I don’t know where I’m supposed to bring up this tech support issue.

That confirms that Bluehost is your web hosting provider, not WordPress.com. You don’t need an account at WordPress.org to have a self-hosted website, you can download and install the WordPress engine without having an account there. Most shared-hosting providers, for example Bluehost would pre-install WordPress on your server.

You can also have a WordPress.com account and connect your self-hosted site to it through Jetpack, but that still won’t make your website WordPress.com-hosted. Websites hosted here are built on a modified version of the WordPress site engine, so they work a bit different.

You should try contacting your own web hosting provider or posting your question to the appropriate WordPress.org support forums as I’ve suggested in my previous reply.
