When you put it in, be sure to put the cursor within the MP3 URL and click the Break Link icon. Have you done that?

Thanks so much for your time firstly.
when I download the mp3 and then place it in the post it doesn’t place the url in…just the track name…is there a plugin I am missing possibly?

No, you do not download the MP3 at all; it needs to be on the internet. Additionally, it needs to be somewhere that allows hotlinking, like Fileden. You need to get the MP3’s URL exactly, not the URL of the page where it is hosted, and put that in.

[audio http://www.fileden.com/files/2012/1/29/3256955/05%20Track%2005%201.mp3%5D
is what I put in…
still no luck:(

Did you put the closing square bracket, and did you put it in the visual editor or the HTML editor?

You seem a bit confused.
a) Uploading means sending a copy of a file from your computer to a site for storage. Downloading means getting a copy of a file from a site to your computer. Embedding means inserting an object in a post or a page.
b) You have uploaded that mp3 to Fileden. That’s fine if you don’t have the Space upgrade. But if you’ve bought the upgrade you don’t need Fileden: you can upload it to you blog.
c) To insert the audio player you use the audio shortcode (better paste it after switching the editor to HTML):
[audio MP3 URL HERE]
You seem to know that. If what you want is to insert the player, then why do you care if “it doesn’t place the url in”? -
Sorry for my lack of correct lingo:(
What I meant was that even though I think I am following all the steps correctly…the audio player doesn’t play…only the song title in the square brackets…
Does that make sense?
