daveac and anyone seeing no player/playbars at all:
Be sure when you edit your blog post and add your “[audio http://*.*%5D link for the playbar that you are in “text” and not “visual” mode. It didn’t used to matter wit the old system, now it does. This had been my problem. I am now getting playbars.

@all
@ WordPress engineersAdding [/audio] to older posts doesn’t change anything for me.
(I only have the upgrade that allows you to upload files like audio files, etc…)The player appears only if you are still on the page that loads when you start reading the blog. It depends on the number of posts to display you have configured, as Snowqualmie Joe said. (So for example, my 50 latest posts work properly. The older ones don’t.)
Then when you scroll down to the bottom and a new page has to load with the rest of your posts , the player doesn’t show up any more. I suppose it is a problem with a different query then.
Can’t anyone at WordPress give us information other than the fact that they have decided to stick to the new player ? What about our older posts ?
Thank you !

I manage a statewide public radio audio sharing service. I’ve got years of work posted to our site– 1549 audio reports– that are now just about obliterated. Am I to fix each one by hand? Really?
This is a terrible position for some of us poor fools who chose wordpress and now have to be accountable for a problem we had nothing to do with creating.
If anyone has any advice, please let me know.

Yes jpsullivan
Thank you
Switching to Text mode and reentering the code worked!
Kodus to you Sir!

Hello everyone,
As @jpsullivan mentioned, inserting the audio shortcode in Text mode may get your audio players working again. Please ensure that the shortcode is compliant to what is suggested in our support document:
[audio http://en.support.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/mattmullenweg-interview.m4a ]As a precaution, watch out for any extra characters in the shortcode that might affect its functionality.
I do apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you and I could not be more appreciative of the efforts I’m seeing to help each other out. If, for any reason, you’ve hit a roadblock and could not get the audio player to work for you, please create a new thread specific to your case and I will make sure to look into each of them. Alternately, you may use our support contact form here as well:
Thank you!

Yes, I was going to ask about that too. I have a number of pages with lists of audio files. They are all working and still work if we add in a new recording using the new player AT THE TOP of the list on the page.
However yesterday I added some new files at the BOTTOM of the list and this had the odd effect of REMOVING ALL THE FILES with the EXCEPTION OF THE FIRST ONE which was not in the form of the new player.
To get my files ‘back’ I have temporarily removed the new files I was trying to add and copied them elsewhere ready to paste them in again when this problem is sorted out.
Can you help with this one, Druesome? Thank you, Elizabeth

I have also noticed that my longer programs will not play all the way through. the new player crashes out after about 3 minutes.
That totally ruins the experience on my website. Please fix this!
I have gone through and RE-EDITED most of my old posts to fix the layout problem the html5 player created. There is nothing I can do to fix the problem of the thing crashing 3 minutes into a podcast.
This is very annoying!

From druesome:
Several enhancements to the HTML5 player are underway. Future announcements shall be made on this page, so please be sure to remain subscribed. Thank you!
I am here holding my breath.

Just to clarify … my multi-track playlists no longer work with the new audio player. Only the first track plays. I peeked at the html source code created by the shortcode to verify: the audio player picks up only the first track in any playlist and ignores everything else.
Is it just my site, or is this a generalized limitation of the new player? If it is the latter, will this functionality be brought back, and how soon? The lack of multi-track functionality is a real dealbreaker.

@ uuccmc:
It’s not just your site. The new audio player is unable to play multiple tracks: it doesn’t recognize the old player’s track lists.
It broke my “Music” page where the old player used to play a list of about 70 MP3s. Right now (with the new player) it just keeps repeating the first number of the list…
As for when this will be repaired, being just a WP customer I have no idea. It’s amazing how they dared to break our sites in this way, by forcing an obviously not-yet-finished player upon us! -
A new development. My slider is no longer working, as of today. My theme is customized Superhero. What is going on?
