Audio player plays wrong file
-
I have a page that contains both links and audio code for all mp3 parts (satb) of a song, and although the links on the page below work fine, the audio always plays the first (soprano) audio file, regardless of which part you select. The code looks ok, I have cleared my browser cache, and I haven’t found the same problem with other similar pages – it just seems to be this page that has a problem:

Hi there.
I just tried to checkout the page you’re having issues with (http://manchestercommunitychoir.org.uk/members-area/words-and-sound/o-so-seo/) and it’s password protected. Could you paste in the relevant code of the links to the audio files in this thread? Thanks.

Thanks for taking a look Danny, here it is: `<h3>Sound Parts</h3>
<a href=”https://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeosop.mp3″>Soprano</a> [audio mp3="https://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeosop.mp3"|titles=Soprano 1 O So Seo][/audio]<a href=”https://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeoalto.mp3″>Alto</a> [audio mp3="https://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeoalto.mp3"|titles=Alto O So Seo][/audio]
<a href=”https://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeotenor.mp3″>Tenor</a> [audio mp3="https://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeobass.mp3"|titles=Tenor O So Seo][/audio]
<a href=”https://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeobass.mp3″>Bass</a> [audio mp3="https://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeobass.mp3"|titles=Bass O So Seo][/audio]`

Sorry, that isn’t the code as it was – I changed the tenor audio file last night to the bass one just to see if it made any difference, and it didn’t, I still heard the soprano part.

The code actually looks like this:
<h3>Sound Parts</h3> <a href="https://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeosop.mp3">Soprano</a> [audio mp3="https://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeosop.mp3"|titles=Soprano 1 O So Seo][/audio] <a href="https://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeoalto.mp3">Alto</a> [audio mp3="https://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeoalto.mp3"|titles=Alto O So Seo][/audio] <a href="https://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeotenor.mp3">Tenor</a> [audio mp3="https://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeotenor.mp3"|titles=Tenor O So Seo][/audio] <a href="https://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeobass.mp3">Bass</a> [audio mp3="https://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeobass.mp3"|titles=Bass O So Seo][/audio] -
Well, everything looks right. I just tried to open the individual files and they all played their correct part.
Can you try something? On your page in question could you right-click on one of the other parts and choose Open in New Window or Open in New Tab? Sometimes that forces the window to get a cache free version of the new file.

Thanks again for looking at this.
However I can’t right click on the audio player only on the links, and the links are ok, it’s just the audio player that’s got messed up.
But I have just right clicked on the page and selected ‘view page source’ and this shows that the files on the audio links are not what they appear to be when editing the page:“<h3>Sound Parts</h3>
<p>Soprano <!–[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement(‘audio’);</script><![endif]–>
<audio class=”wp-audio-shortcode” id=”audio-3599-1″ preload=”none” style=”width: 100%; visibility: hidden;” controls=”controls”><source type=”audio/mpeg” src=”http://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeosop.mp3?_=1″ />http://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeosop.mp3</audio></p>
<p>Alto <audio class=”wp-audio-shortcode” id=”audio-3599-2″ preload=”none” style=”width: 100%; visibility: hidden;” controls=”controls”><source type=”audio/mpeg” src=”http://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeosop.mp3?_=2″ />http://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeosop.mp3</audio></p>
<p>Tenor <audio class=”wp-audio-shortcode” id=”audio-3599-3″ preload=”none” style=”width: 100%; visibility: hidden;” controls=”controls”><source type=”audio/mpeg” src=”http://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeosop.mp3?_=3″ />http://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeosop.mp3</audio></p>
<p>Bass <audio class=”wp-audio-shortcode” id=”audio-3599-4″ preload=”none” style=”width: 100%; visibility: hidden;” controls=”controls”><source type=”audio/mpeg” src=”http://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeosop.mp3?_=4″ />http://manchcomch.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/ososeosop.mp3</audio></p>”It looks as if I’ll just have to delete the whole section and re-enter it.

Hi there,
It looks like the “title” addition to the audio shortcode seems to be throwing things off. You can ensure that any Title information is included by adding it to the audio file itself as detailed right here:
When I removed the title tag and re-tested, the embeds seemed to work fine. I didn’t republish (preferring to leave that to you), but I did test in preview mode. Feel free to publish and test that out and let me know if you run in to any further issues!
-
Thanks for that. You’re right, it seems to work without the title. But there are other pages which include Title and work ok. What does seem to have changed is what happens when you add an audio file, and how it is processed. The code generated now differs from code generated a year ago, and I have sometimes done a copy and paste operation to create a new page!
It’s a shame that you no longer see the title when you play the audio, people found it useful to check that they were listening to the right audio file by seeing the title on the screen….. -
I’m glad that worked for you. We did indeed recently implement a major merge with the core code of WordPress (which we do on a semi-regular basis) to ensure that all of the latest features are present in each set of software. I’m sorry that the title tag functionality appears to have been removed from the audio shortcode at that time.
