Hello!
Please make sure you are uploading the correct format.
See here:

Also, have you reached your maximum capacity of 3gigs? -
I have been uploading audio files for several years now and I never had trouble uploading audio files to a size of 25 Meg before. It has suddenly changed – it won’t work using Firefox or Chrome, but I can still do it using IE. It is very puzzling. I don’t like IE as a browser in general but I have to use it to upload the audio files now that the other 2 have stopped doing it – they just give an ‘http error’.

Are your browsers updated?

Tried clearing your browser’s cache?
Enabling Cookies and Javascript?
What if you upload in secure mode using https?

Did try all of those things before and it has not worked. Still get an ‘http error’ after I attempt an upload – it always seems to try to do the upload for about a minute then gives the error code.

Depending on what kind of file it is you may need a space upgrade
http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/
What kind of audio file is it? -
It is a straight mp3 audio file and I have 13Gb of space.
I think it must be something to do with Firefox and Chrome as it all works fine in IE -
The only option I can think of is either
A. Run updated browsers or
B. There is a browser extension running on Firefox and Chrome that is interfering with the upload. -
Browsers are up to date.
Extensions have not changed in 8 months – so it can’t be that. Beginning to think it is something to do with browser upgrade to Firefox and Chrome that has happened in last 6 months – that is when the problem began. -
-
I have said already that I have enough space – 13Gb
The problem has only been around for about 5 months – and only applies to Firefox and Chrome. Has WordPress done something to limit their ability to process the upload? -
You could consider downgrading Firefox to an earlier version to see if the updated Firefox is the cause:
