Audio widget problem
-
Hi
So I was trying to add an audio widget to my non-premium blog by following how It’s mentioned in (https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/audio-widget/#music-player-widget) here. But the problem is, i can’t upload any audio file nor can’t put a audio link even YouTube links too.
Also I can’t find Music Plyer Widget too in widget list. Isn’t it available in free version?I am trying to do the customizing works on my mobile browser since I have no pc.

Hi there,
can’t put a audio link even YouTube
Could you please give us the link you are referring to to test?
Free plan is not a problem, Audio widget installs on it without problems. It is called Audio widget, not Music Player, maybe that was a problem, same as I had?
The other problem why you can not upload audio files lies here- you have to purchase at least Personal plan or higher to be able to upload audio files to Media library. More info about file types is here: https://wordpress.com/support/accepted-filetypes/#audio.
Are you using a WordPress.com app for mobile phones? Anyway that shall not be a problem, widget adding is almost the same as here on online WordPress.com platform. If you have a problem with the app, please tell us.
If you have more questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Hi. The Music Player Widget section of the Audio Widget support page definitely indicates that there is a widget called “Music Player” that may be chosen and used instead of the Audio widget. However, like you, I’m not finding that widget on my sites (which are all on the free plan), either at the WP-Admin Widgets page or at Customize > Widgets (via WP-Admin or Calypso).
Perhaps that widget is only available on sites with certain paid plans, but I’m only speculating. Therefore, I’m going to call for staff attention. Hopefully staff will be able to tell us the conditions under which the Music Player widget is and is not be available. Staff will respond here.

Hi @musicdoc1,

I have checked that Music Player Widget is available only on paid plans, from Personal and higher. On a free plan it does not show up in widgets menu.
But that is not mentioned on the Support doc here https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/audio-widget/ and strange that Audio widget is available on a free plan, despite audio files are not possible to upload on same free plan. -
Hi there,
The music player widget is only available on paid plans, yes, as indicated in the page on Audio embeds:
https://wordpress.com/support/audio/#audio-playlists-widget-only
But that info is missing from the Audio Widget support page. I’ll make sure that gets updated.
