authenticator
-
this is an awesome system that I have been using for a couple of years now. So I added it onto my blog from the computer desktop. I use my WordPress Mobile App 95 % of the time and get on my desktop to tweak the stuff that doesn’t work on the mobile app. ie: creating subpages for one.
Anyway, I tried to log onto my blog via my mobile device and cannot. So I disabled the 2nd password (authenticator). Seems like I can’t have my cake and eat it too.
I am creating this as a public question for now.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
If you have two-step authentication set up on your account, you’ll need to create an application-specific password for the WordPress app. You can find instructions for that here: Application-Specific Passwords
Please let me know if I can provide any further help with this. :)

I did that.
Maybe I’m not explaining properly.I activated the authentication on my device.
When I logged on, I could not log on, because there was no place to key in the second password. -
Hi there,
There isn’t a place to enter a two-step authentication code in the WordPress apps. However, you can still have two-step authentication on your WordPress.com account and use the WordPress apps.
To do that, you can activate two-step authentication and then go to the “Application Passwords” section of your security settings page: https://wordpress.com/settings/security/
There, you can generate a unique password for different apps like the WordPress app you use on your mobile device. You will use only that password to log in to the app. If your device ever goes missing, you can disable its password and lock it out of your account to prevent others from accessing your sites.
We have more information and instructions for that here: Application-Specific Passwords

Hi rachelmcr, i did all that, but was locked out of my mobile app.
on the app side, it did not take my anywhere to enter the app after it asked for the password. So I disabled the authenticator.
I would like to have the double protection, any suggestions? -
Could you please try to enable two-step authentication again? including setting a application specific password. Then let me exactly know in detail what isn’t working and we can troubleshoot from there.
Looking forward to your reply.
