Author information not being imported.

    We have exported the wordpress blog and are moving it to a hosted wordpress installation. However, when we import it, we are missing the author information.

    I understand that bloggers have to register with wordpress before they blog on a site. So does that mean that wordpress keeps all this information seperate than the blog database.

    Please Help! I just need to know if there is any way possible to get the author information associated with our blog.

    The best way to do this is get the authors to register as users with wordpress accounts and add them to your blog before you import the content. Then you can use the export from your WP 2.1 blog to import each users posts (filter by author as part of the export procedure) and get it asigned to the right author. Otherwise, you will need to assign all the posts to you and then change author for each post which would be exremely time consuming.
