Author name not appearing consistently

  Hey…

  Ive noticed that the author name for a post does not display consistently. Until recently, the name of my other blog (Office N/A) has been used as author name on my posts. I managed to change it and the next post showed the correct name (Torben Jensen). Now yesterday, it appears to have reverted to showing Office N/A again, but without any indication to me whats changed.

  What can I do/change to have my name shown correctly?

  Hi Torben,

  I just took a look at your site wordsofacrookedmind.com, and the only author I see is Torben Jensen. Where were you seeing the other author name listed (where on your site)?

  I’m sorry, I should have been more specific. The issue arises when I post them on Facebook. Some post have one name, other have the other.

  Ah! OK, now I understand.

  Any of the posts which were created and shared previously have been cached by Facebook up until now. If you would like to re-share them with the new author, you can. You just need to use Facebook’s debugging tool to force FB to re-fetch the information for each article.

  Nice. Will look into that.

  But why do the posts even have the old name? As far as I can tell from the settings, the default settings have my name, but the latest post showed Office N/A and the one before had my name. Is this a setting I need to adjust of a quirky thing in WP?

  You mentioned before that until recently the author name which you had been using was “Office N/A.” Facebook caches websites the first time it is shared anywhere in their network just so that they don’t have to waste the bandwidth fetching it again. Eventually that cached information will expire, but it can take several weeks (unless you force their systems to re-grab the information using that tool I mentioned).

  So the short version is that since you had the author set as Office N/A before, Facebook thought it was still set to that; at least from everything I can tell in our system.
