author of the articles: i can’t change it.
-
i used to write for a site on wordpress, todaysport.it. i quit it a few months ago. yesterday i checked it and i saw that now all the articles are signed ‘redazione’: all the names of the other journalists, including mine, have disappeared.
i wrote around 3800 articles for that site and i wanted to include them for a CV, but it’s not easy to prove i have written them if my name isn’t there anymore.
i was given again by the owner of the site the login details to (manually!) modify those articles, and i can login in the site now, but i can’t change the author of the articles.
why is that? i have asked the owner of the site, he claims it’s because the site is ‘soon closing down’.
that doesn’t sound like a logical explanation to me. i mean, is it possible? or is it simply because i was given access, but not the powers to change the author of the articles?
thanks in advance for the replies.

The name shown at the bottom of the Blog Post (The ‘Author’) is the name of the account on that blog that published that post. In order for you to change the name of the author you will need to change the name of the account that published them to the blog.
In order to do this you will need to go through the posts on your Dashboard under Posts, find the posts you would like to change the author for and click the Quick Edit button, scroll down until you find the Author section. From the drop-down menu you can select what Author you like to select for that post. You can only select Authors from the accounts available on the website. Once finished, click the update button.

oh. ok, thank you, i got it.
just one more question though: why is that that all the authors were changed to “redazione” (“editorial staff”) to begin with?
could that have happened for a mistake of wordpress? or was it done but the owner of the site? i have to say, the latter sounds more likely to me.

Sounds like the site may be closing down soon so are you trying to include the website for a CV or just get some articles off of the site? If it’s the ladder, perhaps you can copy those articles since it was your writing in the first place, correct? I think your sort of at the mercy of the site owner on this one.
Hope you can get what you need from the site owner. Sounds like you worked hard on many articles. Good luck!

@alessandroiannelli the name change such as that would have had to been by someone on the site, most likely by deleting the Authors’ accounts and having one “Editorial Staff” account for all the articles to be credited to.
As @doohane1 stated, your safest bet is to copy your own original content and save it somewhere for you to be able to access it in the future. I’m not sure if you were under contract to write the content, but if not – then the written content should belong to you. -
i’m in for several hours of painfully boring copypasting/saving work, but i need to do that.
thank you to those who answered and ty for your words, doohane1.
