Author Status, cannot embed videos.
-
Hello.
I have author status on our blog, and I am unable to embed videos.
I do not have a video tab and:
[youtube=ulr]
[googlevideo=url]does not work. It appears as I entered it in the actual post. For example if i was to post [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39ESOKkU1ho] in the code view, this how it would appear in the actual blog [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39ESOKkU1ho].
I’ve tried entering it the visual same way – no luck.
I’ve tried turning off the visual editor – no luck.
Code view – no luck
Wrapped around theurland[youtube=ulr]NO luckThere is no video tab, the only one is the “Upload”
I suspect this is due to my status, or administrator has to turn on some privileges. We a loaded to the head with work right now I dont want to nag our admin to look for a solution for me, however, since I keep the blog it is always nice to post some interesting videos as many of you probably do.
Is that a permission problem? If so what are the steps to solve it?
If not, my hands must be growing out of the wrong place =), but I would appreciate any input from you. -
CORRECTION
Wrapped around the < code > url < / code > and < code > [youtube=ulr] < / code >NO luck

I would thing from looking here: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/12/what-are-the-different-roles/ that authors should be able to insert videos.
Did you follow the steps here: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/07/29/how-do-i-post-a-google-video/ ?

Yep looked at those.

“Author

Thats me.http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/07/29/how-do-i-post-a-google-video/
Followed every step.
1. There is not video tag, I only have “Upload”
As I mentioned in the original post I’ve tried every possible combination there, with [googlevideo=url] both from the code and visual view. All it does is simply posts it as you see it right now which is [googlevideo=url].

Oh, I didn’t see the second post. I don’t know if there are any differences or not, but we run on a different multiuser software here, so to make sure you should be asking over at http://wordpress.org/support/ .

If you host your own blog, that embed code will not work. It’s WP.com specific, and only works for blogs hosted here. You need to put in the FULL embed code that the site gives you, with all the code, and you need to turn off your visual editor before you do that. Turn off the visual editor on your profile page, then paste in the embed code.
