Hi there,
Is this for the domain, calumbowen.com?
That domain expired on 1 September. It’s only possible to transfer a domain you currently own, and you stopped being the owner of that domain the moment it expired.
Additionally, your domain is now in what is called the Redemption Period. This means the domain has already been removed from our system and the registrar is preparing to delete it. Once they delete the domain it will become available again so anyone can register it with any registrar. Should someone manage to buy the domain before you can, you will lose it.
You should also be aware that during redemption the registrar can try to sell the domain at private auction. Should they do this, the domain will never be released and you won’t be able to register it again.
Your safest option is to try and recover the domain from redemption, but the registrar charges a $80 fee to do this. I will need you to agree to this fee before I can start the recovery process. Once the domain is restored to your account and renewed you will be able to transfer it again.
I’ve removed the domain mapping you added for that domain as it won’t do anything. You can either cancel and refund the personal plan you had bought, or I can use the domain credit in your plan to cover the cost of your domain’s renewal, in which case you’ll only need to pay the redemption fee. Otherwise you’ll need to pay for both redemption and renewal to regain ownership of the domain.

$80 is a bit too steep for me and my domain will not be particularly in demand so I’m not worried about not being able to get it back. Do you have any idea of when the redemption period will end? It should have already been over 30 days since september 1.
If i was to switch to one.com and make my own site, will i be able to continue using (email visible only to moderators and staff) – the email address i set up with the wordpress – it’s currently not able to receive emails.

Redemption typically takes about 90 days in total, though it varies between registrars and domains. It does look like your domain is in the final phase of redemption now, which means we’re about halfway through the process.
Barring someone else buying the domain, I’d venture that it might be released in around 6 weeks. But that’s an educated guess, not a guarantee.

As the domain is not active, the email also won’t work. If you had email forwarding set up with us you won’t be able to continue using that, but will have to get fully hosted email, either with one.com or with an email provider like Google, Microsoft or Zoho.
If you already had a hosted email account like that connected to your domain here, that account should still be active, and once you own the domain again you’ll just need to reconnect it by adding the required DNS records for your email at one.com. In this second case you might even get the emails sent while the domain was down, as many email providers queue incoming emails for a certain time and send them once the domain reconnects. That would depend on your email provider, though.

Hi again,
OK! I need my email back quickly and for the time being it’d be best to redeem my account I think. Is that possible? I can just pay the redemption price and not get a refund for the domain.
Please let me know what’s the easiest way for me to do this? Will I need to do anything to get my email back up and running?

I’ve just sent you a payment link for the redemption fee. I’ll be notified once you’ve paid and then I can contact the registrar to restore it. With luck we might still be able to have it reactivated today, otherwise it should be working by tomorrow.
When the domain is restored we should automatically add back the DNS records for the email, but I can check on that once I have access to the domain again.

We have received your payment and I’ve emailed our registrar to restore the domain. I’ll let you know as soon as I hear back from them.

Your domain has been restored and reactivated on your account. It is showing your site again, and your email should also be working again soon.
If you still want to transfer your domain to one.com, you can follow the instructions here:
Transfer a Domain to Another Registrar
Note that if you do this you’ll need to set up the MX records for your email with one.com after the domain is transferred for the email to keep working.
