Authors Widget not available

I want to include the ‘authors widget’ in the sidebar of my blog.

Unfortunately it is not available in the list of available widgets on my site. How can I activate it and use it?

Which site is this for? I see you have a few on your account. If you have only one author on your site the widget will not appear, so is it the case you have not yet invited other authors to your site? https://wordpress.com/support/user-roles/

there are several authors already active with several articles. This should not cause it.

That is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, which is why you don’t have access to WordPress.com widgets.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
With that said, you can add the Authors widget, and many other WordPress.com features, with the Jetpack plugin: https://jetpack.com/
