authorship error in my blog

  I’m trying to link the authorship of my blog with google plus and think i have done everything right…except i get the following message about Ignacio Ricci. After a bit of research i see he is the author of the THEME that I use (chateau)…has he inadvertently overwritten some aspect of the code that causes google plus to malfunction?

  and yes i have done the verification by email for (email visible only to moderators and staff) as well

  the only route that now seems open is to add various metatags … but of course i cannot do that on a wordpress.com blog. And BTW I have added a test widget with the author rel code at the end of the right hand side bar, which links back to my authorship profile in google plus, and that doesn’t seem to fix it either :-(

  I have tried to fix it myself…honest!!
