Auto-Allow Comments?

  When someone comments on my blog, by default i have to accept it before it is visible. Is there a way to turn this default off?

  Go to settings > discussion and make the appropriate changes under “Before a comment appears” and then click “save changes” at the bottom of the page.

  Does this open you to all sorts of spam?
  I would like to allow unmoderated comments from a select group of friends. Is this possible?

  Generally, no it doesn’t. Akismet does a very good job of catching spam.

  Have a look at the options on the page TSP mentioned above and see what suits you best.
