Auto-deletion for spam comments
-
I receive a bulk of spam comments everyday. Most of them are from various spammers known for me by their IPs. How can I get WordPress.com to delete those spam comments (those I specify by their IP or sender addr) automatically and not to just mark them as SPAM and push them into the SPAM thread.
Why I find this a problem? WordPress (Akismet specifically) marks most of pingbacks of friend sites (other sites mentioning my blog or linking to specific posts) as spam, and I had to go through all comments everyday to find out which is spam and which is not.
By the way, I’m using the ”Safe List” feature found in Discussion Settings to exclude friend sites from being marked as spam. However, I have to add many of them to that list everyday!
Thank you in advance!

no, actually, that’s what I miss in WordPress.com. I need to mark some comments for auto-deletion not for SPAM.

Spam does get auto-deleted. It sits in the spam folder for two weeks and then goes away. If you want to accelerate the process, you have to do it manually.
What you’re saying is, you have spam. The spam filter catches it. Life would be simpler for you if you could use the spam filter as a moderation queue. Sorry but there’s no automatic way to do this at WordPress.com; if you put the IP, email, keywords, or usernames in the Block box, it’ll still go into spam as far as I am aware.

First off, quarantining by IP address is not necessarily a good idea since IP addresses are no longer unique. ISP’s assign each IP address they have registered to many different users because nowadays it just gets too expensive to have unique IP addresses for each customer. That means that by filtering by an IP address you may be lumping a lot of other legitimate users in with the spammer.
There is no way to set Akismet to auto delete comments from certain IP addresses or email addresses, or usernames, etc., and that isn’t unique to Akismet. Defensio, another large spam filtering service does not give you the ability to auto delete those of your choice.

@justlikeamagic
raincoaster and thesacredpath have provided you with the correct answers just as the support entry does. We cannot set up autodeletion and Akismet is automatically quarantining suspected spam for us. After 15 days it’s autodeleted. My blog has higher traffic than yours does and it takes only a me only few moments a day to check the “spam” caught by Akismet and remove any items that may be false positives. If you repeatedly remove the same false positive comments from the spam filter Akismet will learn not to automatically quarantine them.
My blog has posts dating back to August 2007 and the Akismet stats are 13,574 spams caught, 2,357 legitimate comments, and an overall accuracy rate of 99.184%. If you go here > Dashboard > Akismet Stats you can view the records for your own blog.
BTW you can find the traffic stats for your blog and demographics here http://www.quantcast.com/justlikeamagic.wordpress.com
Best wishes with your blog. -
@timethief @thesacredpath @raincoaster thank you all. thanks for your help.
as @raincoaster said, I just wanted to accelerate the process, but I think I’ve to do this manually.
@timethief btw, I asked about this because most spam comments I receive are tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long and that bothers me too much I really can’t take it, not because I receive much or little spam comments
thanks for your help :)
