Auto DNS Update
-
I have premium and access to custom DNS. I also have a mailserver I want to host and manage the mail on this domain. I can easily add my host’s IP to the DNS table and all’s good. However, the problem is my ISP has a very annoying habit to remotely rebooting my router and therefore I cannot guarantee my host’s IP will remain the same over time. I’d like to run a script via cron to check and update my custom DNS with my mail host’s current/new IP, but don’t know if that is possible? To remotely update (with appropriate authentication) my DNS?

Hi,
That’s not possible on WordPress.com. If you want to change the domain’s DNS, you’ll need to log into your WordPress.com account and go to http://wordpress.com/my-domains -> Edit Domain -> Edit DNS to make those changes. We do not have the option to remotely update DNS records for domains registered or mapped with WordPress.com.
Feel free to let me know if there’s anything else you need and I’ll be happy to help.
