Auto Focus theme: Featured image & URL link

I am using the Auto Focus theme and in my recent post I embedded a URL to one of my images hosted on Smugmug. However, the image does not show on the main blog page, or in any other shared social media (Shared social media seems to be intermittent, but will save that for another post). How can I use a URL link as a featured image so it shows on my main blog page? There’s no option for it under ‘Featured image’. Thanks for the help!

I don’t think you can add featured images via URL. An image you simply use in the post can be added that way, but if you want to set it as a featured image it must be uploaded to your media library.
As for the image displaying on the home page, it could be that it also only displays uploaded images, not embedded ones. To confirm, try adding another image to that post from your media library and see if that appears on the home page.

That’s disappointing. I appreciate the info though. I want to use my image host instead of WP for storing images. I will poke through other themes to see if I can change that. Thanks!
