Auto Generate Thumbnail

(Note 1: Ignore the question above. I tried to add a link, pressed RETURN, and the post was created before I had finished. So if anyone can tell me how to add a link, I’d be grateful.)
(Note 2: This question is about a website using WP – welburnvillagehall.com – but it doesn’t appear in the drop-down box and I don’t know how to add it. Sorry.)
Now the actual question. If I create a link to another website, is there any easy way to get WP to auto-generate a thumbnail image for that website?
I have Googled this but everything I have found is about creating custom thumbnail sizes and suchlike.
I’m a complete WP newbie so any help at all would be gratefully received.

You’ve posted to the free support forums for websites hosted here at WordPress.com.
To avoid confusion, there are three different “WordPress” at play here:
- The free, open-source WordPress software which powers your website.
- WordPress.org which is the open-source project that works on the WordPress software and where you can get the software for free to use on your own hosting provider.
- WordPress.com which is a managed hosting provider of the WordPress software and with whom you’re contacting now.
It looks like your site isn’t hosted here, so we’re limited to what we can help with and advise. But I can get you pointed in the right direction.
The good news is that because you use the open-source variant of the WordPress platform (which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com), help is available at the community forums here:

The folks in the open-source forum are more familiar with these issues and are in the best position to help.
