Auto parsing text to links…

I saw there was a question regarding this nearly 6 years ago and this is still an ‘issue’. While it might be true that most people want to have http://www.thisisafakesite.com automatically turn into a link if it points to a real web site. However, when, like above, you are referencing what isn’t a real site but only using it as an example wordpress decides in its infinite wisdom that, no, i did in fact mean for it to be a real site and it should, no must have a link to aforementioned fake (yet real as per WordPress) site. Now, this could extremely easily be remedied by adding a context menu when you right click on the offending text and explicitly tell WordPress, no this is not a real link and you do not need to auto-format it as one.

  • Hi @jlivolsi, have you considered using code markup around the link, like so?

    http://www.thisisafakesite.com

That doesn’t add an extra menu option, but it should effectually avoid linking to a non-existing site.
