auto renew

Word Press auto renew is deceptive. I cancelled my upgrade, and I knew I did because my domain name didn’t map anymore. Still WordPress tried to charge my card for Premium when auto renew came around. And when I went to my site I had the plan again. This is deceptive. I might not have noticed for a while and the 30 days would have passed and then they would have had my money. WordPress should not use tactics that are employed by bad actors, like security software vendors.

Oh no! It sounds like auto-renew was no disabled when you cancelled. I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up to make sure that happens.

Please bear with me while I confirm that you have used the correct cancellation process. WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.

Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.

Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrade, and you are within the allowed time frame for refunds, you can cancel and request a refund from your dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. You can also disable auto-renew there. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades

When you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrade what do you see in these two locations please?
Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/
    as well as
Dashboard > Store > Billing History

    View Your Billing History

It’s possible to change how the domain mapping works without finalizing a cancelation of the premium plan, and it sounds like that might be what happened in your case. We definitely wouldn’t want to charge for a renewal of something that was already canceled and it sounds like a misunderstanding or that something not typical happened to your account in this case. I’m sorry for any trouble. I just re-checked your account and I found that a renewal was attempted on 2015-10-24 but was then voided out without being charged so I think everything should be in order now and you will not be charged again unless you were to re-purchase and and turn renewals back on. Also, if you ever run into a situation like this again, we are absolutely happy to help you work through it, even if it’s past 30 days because it sounds to me like something that wasn’t a typical case.
