    Hello, my husband is losing his job for the second time since covid. I can no longer afford this subscription, and I didn’t realize it was on auto renew. Can I change to a free domain and get a refund please?

  • Hi @lisamarie1984, we’d be happy to help if we can! I don’t see any upgrades associated with this account, though. My guess is that you’ve got another account. Can you log out and log in with the account associated with that site? It should be the email address that gets renewal reminders and what not.

    I don’t have any emails about the renewal. I have ICANN domain registration emails coming to THIS email address. My previous phone screen went blank unexpectedly so I had to get a replacement phone and lost some info in the process, it seems. At this point I have no other access to any other email. I do have the credit card charge for $120. Could the sting of numbers and letters with the charge help with processing the refund and closing the account?

    Yes, that will definitely help. We are not able to help here in the support forums, as verifying account ownership requires us to ask you to provide info that is best not shared in this public venue.

    With this in mind, please fill out this form here to the best of your ability. There is a place to add a “transaction ID” which is the series of letters/numbers you are referring to, so please enter that as well: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

    This will send all the info you have to our account recovery team, and from there they will contact you directly via email to assist you in regaining access to the other account.

    When I fill out this form, it recommends that I do forgot password for this account!

    The only way to cancel the domain is by logging into the account that owns it. And if you don’t have the login details for the account, the only way to regain access is to submit our account recovery form. Verifying ownership of the account requires you to share some sensitive information that we cannot discuss here in the public forums.
