Auto-Renewall cancellation, as was not informed about and gave no permission
-
I just received an email from PayPal that I gave authorisation to WordPress to pay $99 for an auto-renewall. I was not aware of auto-renewall being switched on (as I intended to only use this site for one year). I’m not happy about this: surely, an automated message could be send out before you take the money out that the site will be auto-renewed in a week’s time or so, so the customer then has time to cancel.
Also, I ordered my site on the 8th of August 2013: it seems quite early to auto-renew the site right now and take out $99 dollars, then claim I can’t get a refund as I’m just out of the 30 day period.
I am very disappointed in this service from WordPress, as I have been using the platform for many years. I would like to receive an immediate refund and a cancellation of goundertheivy.com, per the 8th of August. It is particularly frustrating as the money in my PayPal account was going to be used to pay for some bills!
I hope this can be sorted out soon.

Hi Jacob,
Please note that when you purchase an upgrade at WordPress.com, we do confirm that there’s an automatic renewal unless you opt out:
1) in section 3 of our Terms of Service
2) the Store checkout screen (before they click Purchase). You can easily opt-out by going to Store > My Upgrades in your Dashboard at any time.
We also auto-renew 30 days in advance in case there are any issues with the credit card. I’ve had some instances when a new credit card had to be delivered and 30 days was a long enough time for users to get a new card and still renew the upgrade before the expiration date.
However, I’d be more than happy to cancel and refund the domain: goundertheivy.com and Premium upgrade. Please note that this is different from other upgrades and is stated during the purchase process.
Canceling a domain at this time means you completely give up ownership of the domain. There is no guarantee the domain will become available to re-register after cancellation.
You are welcome to keep your domain with us and update the nameservers to point to another hosting provider by following this guide:
After 60 days from the date of purchase or registrant contact information change, you may also transfer your domain to another registrar by following this guide:
If you would like to completely cancel your ownership of the domain name and Premium upgrade, please let me know. I will then verify your account via email and get the refund/cancellation processed.
Thank you!

Hi Grace! Thanks so much for that, I’d really appreciate it if you could refund and cancel the domain. It was only ever meant as a 1 year project, so it’s redundant now.

Thank you for the reply! I have messaged you via email for account confirmation. Reply to that and this will be taken care of shortly!

Hello again – unfortunately I haven’t received any mail yet – could you please check if this has been sent?
-
Hi Jacob,
It was sent to the email address associated with your WordPress.com account. Please check the spam/junk folder. I have re-checked the email as been sent. Just in case, I sent another email.

I’m sorry to say, but neither email has come through. They are not in my spam/junk folder either. I have checked my settings, and the email address linked to my wordpress.com account is working perfectly fine, as I am getting the replies through perfectly fine. Is there a different way of sending this my way?

Can you please tell me the email address you are looking at? Our system will hide the email address so that only staff can view it.
Sorry for the inconvenience!

Of course, it’s (email visible only to moderators and staff) – that’s where I get notificiations through when you reply, and that all comes through fine. So strange! :(

I just took a look at your account, and found that the transaction has been voided, so you will not be charged! While it may show up as a temporary transaction on your account, it will disappear soon. Your domain: goundertheivy.com and WordPress.com Premium upgrade will expire on August 8th, 2014.
Cheers!
