My auto save isn’t working. For some time. I’ve lost a lot of work. When I try to save … quite often a pop up screen appears with “are your sure you want to do this” if i press yes … I lose everything. If i try to remove the pop up I can’t. Terrible drustrating.

Hi there,
I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting. -

Hi @nikkitytom,
I’m sorry for the frustration! A few follow-up questions so I can troubleshoot this:
- What browser and operating system are you using?
- Does this only happen on that particular browser (i.e. have you tried others)?
- Can you confirm that you are connected to the internet when you’re editing your post?
- Have you tried creating/editing a post elsewhere on a different wireless connection with any luck?
Thanks for the additional info!

Also, are you using the New Post button on the grey admin bar? If you use that, the Autosave appears to be working but all it does is save the Title. It doesn’t save anything else. That’s a very common complaint.

Some WordPresss angel seems to have corrected the problem … really quickly and effectively. Now all systems go.
I was using Chrome one one computer and Internet Explorer on my little laptop …. autosave was unavailable for both. I’m always connected to Internet when i work I only used my home wireless.
Now this wonderful feature works on Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Firefox. It works on my large computer and my small computer … I’m confident that it will work on the spare and the new one still in the box.
Thanks SO much for such a speedy resolution to the problem. I love WordPress … its features are unparalleled on any other site. From the superb “distractionless” screen, wonderful spell check and excellent formatting choices to the ease of setting up a blog with many free and tasteful templates. I would only wish for the ability to arrange categories in my own order choice … without tweaking. But heck … that’s just nit-picking.
Love you guys …. thanks ….

Great! I’m glad it’s working for you now. Please let me know if you run into additional issues.
@raincoaster – Posting from the admin bar on WordPress.com should save the draft provided the user 1. selects a blog when creating the post and 2. is working on the blog for at least a minute. If they click off after less than a minute, the blog draft is not saved.

Noted. Underthing I have noticed is that bloggers start working on a post and go off to do something else leaving the posts open. That too can result in lost data. The more bloggers who have emailed me and the more I have grilled them the more I get the picture that they are causing this error.

Underthing = Another thing
Sorry my spellcheck had that weird correction in it. I’m off to fix it now. -

Just gave this a quick test. I typed a few words into the draft and then used another tab for a minute before exiting the draft page. Provided I left the tab open for a minute or longer, the initial text was saved. However, if I flipped back after a minute, typed another sentence, then immediately exited, the additional text was not saved.
It looks like this behaves like the normal editor with autosaving happening every two minutes after the initial save, which happens one minute in.

Heck … I’m thrilled to pieces that it works on a two minute timer after the first auto-save. I’m still traumatized by my problem a week ago .. which was quickly solved by WP within hours of my post. I keep looking down to see if I’m “safe” … and now I am … LOL
