AutoFocus Theme: Is it not possible to set a "Static" Post as the Homepage?

  • Unknown's avatar

I find that a “Post” is only accessible after clicking hyperlink/image to the desired Big-Sized Nice-Image Post Page (which I would like to use as the homepage.. friendly greeting picture, title, hello..

But a Homepage “Page” ONLY displays a smaller image within the Body of the Page Template? and choosing a “Page” is the only option for the Homepage, (..its not possible to choose a “Post” to display, -other than the “Most Recent Post”?).. Correct?

Q: Perhaps its why this buddy-buddy template is called AutoFocus?

    Hi billymartinblogarchive,

    >But a Homepage “Page” ONLY displays a smaller image within the Body of the Page Template? and choosing a “Page” is the only option for the Homepage, (..its not possible to choose a “Post” to display, -other than the “Most Recent Post”?).. Correct?

You can choose what’s displayed on the homepage of your site.
It can be either posts in reverse chronological order like a blog or a fixed/static page.
To set a static homepage, you first need to create *two Pages*. One will become the *homepage*, and the other will be where your posts are displayed.

Here are the steps to get the full-fledged image on your homepage,
    1. Create a page and name it as “Home” and add your full-fledged image in the body area of the page.
    2. Create another page and name it as “Blog Posts”.
    3. Now Go to Theme customizer -> Homepage Settings -> Select *A static Page*
    * Under Homepage drop down, select your recently created *Home* page.
    * Under Posts page drop down, select your recently created *Blog Posts* page
    4. Save and publish it.

Visit your site and now you should see your full-fledged image as homepage and all your posts on “Blog Posts” page.

    Hope this helps !

    Thanks,
    Pratik

    Thanks for your reply Pratik!
I had read that explanation there in the Homepage Settings instructions, before going to the forums, thanks for reminding me to try them as was suggested…

After a test try though, I notice the same un-desired result. A smaller Home page Image, -in comparison to an Included Post within The AutoFocus Template..?

I think the width of the Body of The AutoFocus Template is just limited to displaying a smaller, different looking Image within an Included Page -than the rest of the AutoFocus Template site?…

@billymartinblogarchive, yes, the Altofocus theme has a 75% width setting for the entry content on screens/windows wider than 800px. That could be changed with Custom CSS, but that would require either the WordPress.com Premium or Business plan.
