automated blog backup
-
I’m looking for a way to automate creation of local backups of my blog. I realize that one can “export” the blog to an xml file but this is interactive and I’m looking for automated. I’ve read in the FAQs that one can write a shell script using curl to download the backup xml file and I have written such a script; I’m “curl”ing the url that the “export” link uses. The problem is that I have to be logged in to my blog (of course!!) to export the file – is there an automated way to log in so I can export the blog?
thanks,

Hi, you need to read this: WordPress.com or WordPress.org ? The difference., and go here: WordPress.ORG Support Forums
Thanks

WordPress.com is backed up to guard against disasters, server failures and so on.
If you want backups for your own peace of mind or to recover after accidental deletion, I’d suggest an occasional export, and using an offline blog editor to write and keep local copies of your posts.
