automatic created files stored in a ‘s’ file (css and js and gz files) showing in ftp

Some of my domains create files/logs in a file named ‘s’ file. All those are css or js and some of them get created the moment someone goes to my domain. We have deleted these files in all domains, but they come back shortly after. The hosting company had no explanation, there does not appear to be any similarities in the websites. Different themes, plugins, etc. At a complete loss. Has anyone experienced this and can shed some light to this. This all came to the surface when problems occurred on one website with the shopping cart. Even Themeisle support was at a loss as the changes and fixes we had made got reversed overnight without anyone signing into the website. Now another one of my sites crashed and this one seems unrepairable and I will have to start from scratch. However, the ‘s’ file came right up when I used duplicator trying to re-coop some of the data from the crashed site. Anyone have any idea could be going on here? Thanks so much in advance for your kind help!
