Automatic Emails to Viewers when I update blog posts

I am wondering what directions I can give to viewers of my blog, so that they can receive automatic updates every time I put a new blog post. I am a swim coach and I have several parents complaining that they are not receiving emails. I’m assuming they did not click to follow the blog, but not sure how to make that more clear.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Greetings.
If you’ve got their e-mails you can do it manually.
on the “My Site” column go to “People” then “Add” them and assign them as “Followers” this is what this link https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/ has to say about adding people and roles on WordPress.com
    Follower:
Followers do not have any editing privileges on your site whatsoever; they are simply people who have signed up to receive updates each time you publish a new post. The only thing they can do on your site is leave comments (if you have them enabled), though they do not have to be a Follower to do so.

If your blog is public, anyone can follow it, but you can also send out invitations to specific people you’d like to share your blog with.

If your blog is private, nobody will be able to follow it unless you specifically invite them, at which point they become a Viewer.
