Automatic Featured Images from YouTube / Vimeo’ plugin does not play on home page (featured page widget)

  The ‘Automatic Featured Images from YouTube / Vimeo’ plugin does not play the video on the home page. The video is in the body of the page, as suggested. It shows properly in the home page when the Featured Page Widget in the Home Top widget area in the Enterprise Pro Theme, but it does not have the ‘play’ arrow and won’t play when clicked. ( However, it will play in the actual ‘Who We Are’ page.)

  Is there a way to get this to play the video on the home page?

  I am afraid you are on the wrong forums!

  Your website is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress software found on WordPress.org. We’re able to help only with websites hosted on WordPress.com.

  To clear up any confusion, there are 2 versions of WordPress. WordPress.com is a managed environment different from using the open source WordPress installation.

  WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two, different entities.

  You could look in WordPress.org forum; perhaps someone there has experienced something similar:

  Just to give you some direction, the reason the video is not playing on the home page is because it is actually not a video. It is an image which has a link to the “Who We Are” page.

  Whereas on the “Who We Are” page the actually Youtube video code is there so that it plays as a video.

  I would recommend you either post your problem on https://wordpress.org/support/ ?
  I am sure someone with experience can help you resolve your issue.
  OR
  As you are using a premium theme, contact the theme author directly.

  Hi! The previous poster is right – this is support forum for WordPress.com, which has a slightly different set of features.

  That said, I took a look. It looks to me like the plug-in is doing what it is supposed to by pulling an image from the video and setting it as the featured image. The picture of the video on the homepage you linked is just a jpg image, and won’t be able to play as a video because it isn’t one.

  From the desctiption of the plugin, I think it is working as intended. You made just need to find a different approach to do what you want to do.
