Automatic linking
-
Hi,
This is not a support request but more feedback or feature request. I could not find a feedback link though so I send it this way.
The old Microsoft Live Writer had a really nice feature that I miss. You could have a list of words and phrases that, when typed into a text, would automatically cause a link to be created to a URL that you had chosen.
Let’s say that I often write movie reviews. I could register the phrase “John Wayne” so that every time I wrote it in a post it would link to John Wayne’s page on IMDb without me having to bother about it.
It would be great if you could include such a feature in the online post editor. Live Writer would only do the link on the first ocurrence of the text but that could perhaps be a setting.
Cheers

Zemanta can be easily re-installed via the browser extension right now. There are links to related posts automatically included when you use it. Go to > http://www.zemanta.com/download/

Hello there!
In addition to TT’s suggestion, you may want to look at the Related Content extension by Zemanta for the Chrome browser:
If you feel that this feature should be part of WordPress.com, you may post your idea at the WordPress.org Ideas forum:
Should the idea gain significant traction, it just might be included in a future version of WordPress.com. :) Cheers!

Hi druesome,
I have added my suggestion to the ideas forum as you suggested. Zementa do not really seem to be what I want.
I do not want something that goes of and makes suggestions all over the place. I simply want a list of word and phrases that I control myself and which adds only the exact links that I have told it to add.
Also I do avoid browser plugins like the plague. I would have liked it to simply be part of the WordPress standard editor.
Cheers
