Automatic pingbacks still not working

Hi there.
I just wanted to check if this issue had ever become resolved. About six months ago, the issue of pingbacks not working was discussed here but it wasn’t resolved then.
Pingbacks work for me sometimes and not others. For example, I recently pinged this post on this post but the ping was unsuccessful. I tried just using the URL of the first post, and adding /pingback/ or /trackback/ to it but the ping did work in any case.
The above example was a ‘self-ping’, but similarly, I sometimes receive pings from other blogs and sometimes don’t.
I would be grateful for any help. Thank you.
